Williams named CFO for AMHC

CARIBOU — Aroostook Mental Health Center CEO Greg Disy announced on Dec. 2 a new chief financial officer for the group; Michael Williams, CPA has been at his new position as AMHC’s CFO since mid-October.

“Mike offers AMHC strong executive leadership skills and a solid financial management experience,” Disy said. “Given his extensive organizational, technical, and analytical talents, he is making an immediate and valuable contribution to the organization.”

According to Disy, Williams will be responsible for providing leadership for AMHC’s financial and central administrative support services.  

Williams has executive oversight of AMHC’s financial strategy, accounting policies, financial reporting, and purchasing.

“In carrying out these responsibilities, he works in coordination with other members of the senior leadership team, and designated administrative support staff, to ensure the understanding of the vision and strategic direction of the agency,” AMHC officials said.

Prior to joining AMHC, Williams worked for Maine and Maritimes Corporation as well as Maine Public Service Company as a senior vice president, CFO; for Bangor Hydro-Electric Company as a business and financial manager; and as a public accountant.

Williams is a certified public accountant and certified internal auditor.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Maine Certified Public Accountants, the Institute of Internal Auditors, and the Northern Maine Community College Accounting Advisory Committee.

In his spare time, Williams is a volunteer at the annual basketball event for the Maine Special Olympics and a coach for the Aroostook Youth Basketball League and SAD 1.

A native of Princeton, Williams received his BS degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting from the University of Maine, Orono.
