MADISON – Connie-Jo (Ireland) DeLong, 61, passed away December 9, 2011, in Madison. She was born in Presque Isle on June 1, 1950, the daughter of Essie (Poole) Taylor and Philip Ireland.
Connie-Jo was a graduate of Presque Isle High School, Delore School of Cosmetology and the University of Maine. She married her high school sweetheart, Barry A. DeLong and together they raised their two children, Flint and Carrie-Jo.
Connie-Jo was a hard worker and had worked for Somerset County followed by General Electric at the Over the Horizon Radar Site until the site closed. She loved fishing and hunting with her husband as well as spending time with her grandchildren, boating and gardening. Connie-Jo had amazing talents including all kinds of art. She loved her dog, Corky.
Connie-Jo was predeceased by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Barry of Madison; son, Flint DeLong and his wife, Maureen of Oakdale, PA; daughter, Carrie-Jo LeBlanc and her husband, Alain of Sidney; grandchildren, Kennedi and Kobe LeBlanc; step-father, James Taylor of Presque Isle; sister, Valerie and her husband, Michael Aucoin of Augusta; sister, Debrah Burby of Seabrook, TX; nieces, Trudy Delong and Misty Aucoin; and nephew, Lee DeLong.
Our family gives many thanks to Linda, who helped care for Connie-Jo; Terry, Milt, and several others. We couldn’t have done it without your support.
Services at this time will be private at Connie-Jo’s request. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Presque Isle in the spring. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Giberson Funeral Home, 40 Maple St., Madison. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in support of the Homeless Shelter may be made to Trinity Evangelical Free Church, 12 McLellan Street, Skowhegan, ME 04976.
