    Thurston, Ronald F., Sr., 74, December 9, 2011.  Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Houlton.  Interment to be held in the New Limerick Cemetery.
American Flag Color    NEW LIMERICK – Ronald F. Thurston, Sr., 74, New Limerick, died Dec. 9, 2011 at his home. He was born Sept. 4, 1937 in Lowell, Mass., the son of George and Doris (Irish) Thurston.
    He is a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during Vietnam. He was very active in St. John  The Evangelist Church where he sang in the choir and is a fourth-degree Knight. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and retired from St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua after 27 years.
    He is survived by his wife Joanne (Cookie) (Hill) Thurston of New Limerick; two sons, Ronald, Jr. of New Limerick and Sean and Kerry Thurston of Manalapon NJ; three grandchildren, Rhys, Morgan and Angie; one great-granddaughter, Ariah; two brothers, Daniel Thurston of N.C. and Donald Thurston of Virginia; several neices and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents.
    Friends called 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton. A mass of Christian burial was held 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Houlton with Father David Raymond celebrant. Interment will be in the New Limerick Cemetery.
