A local man wanted by police in connection with a domestic assault that took place in Mars Hill on Nov. 20 has been arrested, following a traffic stop Dec. 12 on I-95 in Dyer Brook.
“On Monday, Dec. 12, Trooper Dennis Quint and Trooper Doug Franklin stopped a vehicle on Interstate 95 in Dyer Brook in which Chad Walton, 30, of Mars Hill, was a passenger. Walton fled on foot from the vehicle and attempted to escape into the woods,” said Sgt. Brian Harris of the Maine State Police.
After a brief foot chase, according to Harris, Walton was caught by the troopers and arrested without further incident.
“Walton was transported to Houlton Regional Hospital for exposure and was treated and released. Walton was then brought to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton and is facing charges of aggravated assault and obstructing the report of a crime for his role in the domestic assault on Nov. 20,” said Harris.
Troopers were assisted by deputies from the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Border Patrol agents.
