Students at the Woodland Consolidated School were very busy during the month of November. Under the direction of Cindy Privette, school librarian, a Mystery Book of the Week program was held throughout the month, during which each day a clue was given to the students during morning announcements. Each week a different class chose a mystery book and created the clues.

First grade students at the Woodland Consolidated School recently faced the big decision as to which free book they each would like to have, part of the Reading is Fundamental (RIF) Program held at the conclusion of the month-long Mystery Book of the Week event. Through the week Woodland students could come to the library and place their guesses (as to what book the clues pertained to) in a special box. On Fridays all the correct guesses were entered into a drawing with the winner announced to the entire school population. Each winner also received a free book.

At the conclusion of the exciting Mystery Book of the Week activities held in November at the Woodland Consolidated School, these second grade students each picked a book of their own, made possible through the Reading is Fundamental Program (RIF). “There was as much excitement in creating clues and seeing if students could guess the correct answer as there was with the students trying to guess the correct book,” said Privette.
On Nov. 21, the Mystery Book of the Week program concluded with every student in the school receiving a book of their choosing, part of the Reading is Fundamental (RIF) Program.
Students who put all the clues together and guessed the correct titles included MacKenzie Blackstone, grade 2; Zackary Tracy, grade 5 and Scott Bray, grade 6.
