MWSC athletes competed recently in the Yellowstone Ski Festival and Super tour races in Montana. Some of the racers include these ready to ski at the gates of West Yellowstone Park. They are from left: coach Will Sweetser, Sam Humphris, Derek Rowe, Austin Ross, Danni Anderson, Mike Lessard, Fred Bailey and in front, Welley Ramsey.

This event highlights Maine’s commitment to the National Learn to Ski and Snowboard program.

According to Bo Bigelow, Project Director at Ski Maine, “this Learn to Ski and Snowboard Week continues to grow. The participating ski areas have donated a total of 141 learn to ski and snowboard packages, which sets a new record for Maine. Registration for the lessons is available on the home page of the Ski Maine web site.”

Once a person navigates to the Learn to Ski and Snowboard page of the web site, they will scroll through the of list ski areas to find all of the details and select the available date and time. The number of lessons is limited at each ski area and the lessons are filled on a first come, first served basis. As soon as the registration process is complete, the participant receives a confirmation email from Ski Maine containing specific details of their package. In the last two seasons, all packages have been reserved within days of the announcement.

Packages includes ski or snowboard equipment, lessons and limited beginner lift access. The participating ski areas are located across the state giving most Mainers a Learn to Ski and Snowboard site close to their home.

Participating Maine Ski Areas: Bigrock, Black, Camden Snow Bowl, Lost Valley, Mt Abram, Saddleback, Shawnee Peak, Sugarloaf, and Sunday River.

Details for all Ski Maine events are available on the web site at www.SkiMaine.com.
