Sen. Collins commends NMCC

for support of Guard and Reserve members

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a letter read during a special ceremony in Presque Isle last Tuesday, U.S. Sen. Susan Collins applauded Northern Maine Community College for its receipt of the Seven Seals Award. This award recognizes individuals, employers or supportive organizations that demonstrate strong support of the men and women who serve in the National Guard and Reserve.

“There are many ways we can demonstrate our gratitude to the men and women who defend our country,” wrote Collins. “I am pleased that Northern Maine Community College shows gratitude to those students, staff, and visiting military members who serve in our nation’s National Guard and Reserves through programs that enable these individuals to continue their profession or work to continue their education. The Seven Seals Award is something about which the campus and the entire city of Presque Isle should be extremely proud.”

NMCC was nominated for the award by David Guerrette, an instructor at the school. He wrote that NMCC, President Timothy Crowley and the faculty and staff “truly deserve to be recognized for all they have done for soldiers. This campus has made my day in many ways, as an employee and a Guardsman.”

The Seven Seals Award is presented by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve program, which is a Department of Defense program.
