CARIBOU — Officials with the Northern Maine Development Corporation have received funding through a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Technical Assistance Program to provide grant writing services for a regional project; NMDC officials have proposed to submit a 2012 CDGB Housing application to fund the replacement of contaminated and/or dry wells, malfunctioning septic systems and two single-family, owner-occupied housing units with a grant amount of $300,000.
NMDC officials added that they aim to partner with USDA Rural Development and Aroostook County Action Program services whenever possible.
To be eligible to participate in the proposed project, households must meet the income guidelines and applicants must own and occupy the housing unit; only residents of Amity, Bancroft, Blaine, Bridgewater, Cary Plantation, Crystal, Danforth, Dyer Brook, Hammond, Haynesville, Hershey, Hodgdon, Houlton, Island Falls, Linneus, Littleton, Ludlow, Macwahoc Plt., Merrill, Monticello, Moro Plt., Mount Chase, New Limerick, Oakfield, Orient, Patten, Reed Plt., Sherman, Smyrna, Stacyville, Westfield, Weston and all southern Aroostook Unorganized Territories may apply.
A representative of NMDC will be available on the following dates and times to accept pre-applications:
• Patten Town Office on Wednesday, Jan. 4 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.,
• Hammond Town Office on Friday, Jan. 6 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., and
•Wytopitlock Town Office on Wednesday, Jan. 11 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
