Fire destroys garage

MAPLETON — An afternoon fire Saturday destroyed a garage on the Hale Road.
“The garage belonged to Gerald Easler. No one was home at the time of the fire,” said Mapleton Fire Chief Richard Wark.
According to Wark, a motorist passing by spotted the fire and called it in.
Washburn Fire Department provided mutual aid. Despite firefighters’ efforts, the structure was destroyed as a result of the blaze. No injuries were reported and no other structures were damaged.
Wark did not indicate if a cause has been determined or if the building was insured.
