FS-PIPD ARTS ChurchThirdAcct-c-sh-03 A COLLISION between a pickup and an ARTS bus at the intersection of Church and Third streets on Jan. 10 resulted in significant damage to the vehicles. Officer Chris Hayes, PIPD, served as investigating officer. No serious injuries were reported.

“A 1996 GMC pickup driven by a 17-year-old Presque Isle male was traveling west on Church Street at approximately 2:48 p.m. The ARTS bus — a 2007 Ford E450 — operated by Herman Lagassie, of Presque Isle, was heading south on Third Street. The two vehicles collided at the intersection,” said Chris Hayes, investigating officer with the Presque Isle Police Department.

Hayes said neither driver had passengers with them at the time of the accident and no serious injuries were reported.

“Both vehicles sustained significant front-end damage and are considered totaled. The force of the impact sent the bus skidding into a utility pole, while the pickup spun around onto Third Street,” said Hayes.

Both vehicles, which were insured, had to be towed from the scene. Hayes said no charges are pending.
