The Full Gospel Assembly in Mars Hill recently met the new pastor and his family.

A big welcome goes to Rev. Wesley S.G. Faloon, his wife Susan and their children, Kaytlyn, Seth and Hailey.

Pastor Faloon has served for the past 10 years at Faith School of Theology as dean of men and head of maintenance. He has worked for many years in children’s and youth ministries.

Pastor Faloon will be installed as pastor during the evening service on Sunday, Feb. 12, at 6 p.m.

If you notice the new faces in town, take a moment to welcome them to the community.

Adelmans honored

Milton and the late Gloria Adelman were honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner held on Thursday, Jan. 26, in Presque Isle.

There were many folks there to celebrate with Milton, including five of his six children. In attendance were: Hiram Adelman and his wife Brook of Bozeman, Mont.; Cathy Adelman of Malibu, Calif.; Todd and his wife Kristen with children Zoe and Satchel of Rollinsford, N.H.; Dr. Scott Adelman of Park City, Utah; and Karyn Adelman Fessenden of Crested Butte, Colo. Dr. Toby Adelman of San Jose, Calif., was unable to attend due to her teaching responsibilities.

Milton spoke and said he was surprised at the amount of people attending from Mars Hill — especially as there was a basketball game taking place at CAHS that evening!

A charter member of the Mars Hill Rotary Club, Milton was proud of his late wife’s many accomplishments: the first director of nurses at the Mars Hill Nursing Home — eventually becoming the administrator; she was also the first female to join the Mars Hill Rotary Club. But he was most proud of her accomplishment as a caregiver in bringing up their six children.

He also introduced Rudy Bell, whom he sometimes refers to as his fourth son. He said the biggest difference between Rudy and his other three sons is that Rudy actually listens to him!

Milton credits his father with laying the foundation for what he has been able to do in Mars Hill. His father came to the United States in the late 1800s and found his way to Aroostook County. He traveled by foot with a pack on his back from Houlton to Ashland, distributing goods to the many farms along the way. His dad told him that the greatest day of his life was when he had enough money to buy a horse and wagon. His father opened a store in Mars Hill in 1903 and later on, stores in Bridgewater and Island Falls. These were all thriving communities in those days. During the First World War, his father got into farming, and the family has been involved in agriculture ever since.

In recent years, Milton has become more aware of local care-giving. In the last year or two, there have been occasions when health issues and accidents have brought out the caregivers in the community. He was able to attend two fundraisers that supported the individuals affected and was very impressed with the great number of local people involved in helping those in need.

Milton noted that Mars Hill may have the widest Main Street in Maine, but better still is the fact that it is full of great people. He is proud to call it home but wants to share the honor he was bestowed with all the people around that are the real daily caregivers.
