WESTFIELD — Police are looking for an individual who reportedly forced his way into a local home on Saturday, threatened the resident and took some medications.
“On Saturday, Feb. 4, at approximately 2 p.m. the Houlton Regional Communications Center received a call from 29-year-old Tyler Dennett. Dennett reported that an armed, masked intruder forced his way into his home on the Easton Viner Road in Westfield,” said Sgt. Julie Bergan, Maine State Police.
Troopers responded to the location, as did members of the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office, Maine Drug Enforcement agents, Maine game wardens, U.S. Border Patrol agents and an investigator from the Fire Marshall’s Office. Law enforcement began searching for the suspect, both on the ground and by helicopter. Officers from the Presque Isle Police Department also assisted in the search, patrolling roads between Presque Isle and Westfield.
“Trooper Chuck Michaud, the lead investigator in the case, reported that the investigation revealed the intruder had been armed with a handgun when he entered the home. The intruder stole an undisclosed amount of cash from Mr. Dennett, as well as prescription drugs that were in the home,” Bergan said.
Bergan said the individual is described as a white male, approximately 5 foot 6 inches tall, weighing about 150 pounds and was wearing a ski mask as well as a blue sweatshirt and blue jeans.
“Mr. Dennett last saw the suspect running from the residence. A search of the area was conducted by law enforcement personnel as well as a K-9 from the Sheriff’s Office. However, the suspect was not located,” said Bergan.
Evidence was recovered from the scene by the Maine State Police Evidence Response Team and is being reviewed. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Maine State Police at 800-924-2261.
