The Presque Isle Wildcats and Washburn Beavers both entered the last week of the regular season schoolgirl basketball season in the top spot of their respective classes.

Aroostook County will have a strong Class D presence in the tournament. As of Tuesday, in addition to Washburn at number one, Fort Fairfield is second, followed by Central Aroostook and Van Buren.
LCS/MSSM (11th) and Easton (13th) are facing a road prelim game.
Here’s a recap of games played through Monday, Feb 6:
Washburn 79, Central Aroostook 50 — The Washburn Lady Beavers wrapped up their regular season schedule with a 79-50 win over Central Aroostook in Mars Hill Monday night.
Washburn will head into the tournament with a 17-1 record and as the top-ranked team.
The Panthers are 13-3.
Central Aroostook’s Rachel Grew scored her 1000th career point in the loss.
Houlton 55, Caribou 34 — At Caribou Monday, Amanda Fogerty scored 15 points to help the Shiretowners improve to 12-5.
Sam Keegan added 11 points for the winners.
Katelynn Tardie scored eight points to lead 2-15 Caribou.
Central Aroostook 66, Easton 37 — At Easton Saturday, the Central Aroostook Panther’s Vicki McIntyre had 21 points, 10 rebounds and five steals in the win over the Bears.
Grew added 13 points while Kayla Cushman chipped in with 12.
Mindy Desmond led Easton with 12 points.
Presque Isle 42, John Bapst 24 — The high-scoring Presque Isle Wildcats faced a very deliberate John Bapst squad on Saturday in Presque Isle.
The Crusaders plan wasn’t a full stall, but did limit scoring opportunities for Presque Isle, but the ‘Cats Meredith Stewart made the most of her chances scoring a game-high fifteen points in the win.
Chandler Guerrette and Hannah Graham added eight points apiece for undefeated Presque Isle.
Washburn 77, Fort Kent 44 — The Washburn Beavers recorded their 16th win of the year Friday night by beating the home Warriors by 30 points.
Mackenzie Worcester paced Washburn (16-1) with 17 points. Carmen Bragg added 15 points while Carsyn Koch and Nicole Olsen had 13 points apiece.
Sam Carappelluci had a game-high 21 points to led 9-8 Fort Kent.
Limestone/MSSM 61, Ashland 19 — At Ashland Friday, the Eagles broke open a close game by outscoring the Hornets 48-10 over the final three quarters.
Jordan Hopkins scored 12 points to led LCS/MSSM. Stephanie Leighton chipped in with 11.
Anna Paradis was the high-scored for Ashland with five points.
Easton 52, Wisdom 26 — At Easton Thursday, Carla Halvorson and Desmond each scored 15 points to lead the Bears to their ninth victory.
Ariana Babineau added six points for 9-7 Easton.
Vanessa Pelletier scored nine points to lead 2-12 Wisdom of St. Agatha.
Washburn 61, Fort Fairfield 35 — The top two teams in the Class D Heal Point standings met in Washburn on Wednesday.
The Beavers used some stifling pressure defense to top Fort Fairfield, 61-35.
Worcester registered a double-double with 21 points and 11 steals and also grabbed six rebounds to carry Washburn to victory. Bragg scored 19 points for 15-1 Washburn.
Amanda Hotham paced 12-3 Fort Fairfield with 18 points.
Presque Isle 75, Houlton 35 — At Presque Isle Wednesday, Hannah Graham scored 17 points and Megan Ireland and Karlee Bernier scored 13 apiece as Presque Isle topped the Houlton Shiretowners.
Krystal Kingsbury chipped in 10 points and Guerrette had nine more for the 17-0 winners.
Marina Cameron’s 18 points and Amanda Fogarty’s eight led 9-6 Houlton.
Fort Kent 66, Limestone/MSSM 47 — At Fort Kent Wednesday, Carappellucci scored a game-high 27 points and pulled down 16 rebounds to power the Warriors to victory.
Brittany Theriault scored 15 points for 9-6 Fort Kent.
Melissa Contafio and Alexis Bell provided 10 points each for 7-8 Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Mathematics.
Central Aroostook 51, Ashland 40 —McIntyre’s 17 points powered the visiting Central Aroostook Panthers to the win over Ashland Jan. 31.
Cushman added 14 points for the Panthers (11-3) and Grew had 10.
Marissa Chasse led the Hornets (4-10) with 15 points and Kayla Cote had 10.
Easton 58, GHCA 30 — The Easton Lady Bears climbed over the .500 mark on Jan. 31 with a home win against Greater Houlton Christian Academy.
Halvorson paced the 8-7 winners with 14 points and Hannah Ferris added 10.
Colby Walker scored 14 points and Olivia Lord added 10 to lead 0-14 GHCA.
