CARIBOU — Officials with the Caribou Rehab and Nursing Center have announced that renovations to the facility will soon be completed, doubling the number of private rooms with full bathrooms (including a shower) offered at the location from four to eight.
“They look great,” said Phil Cyr, administrator of the Caribou Rehab and Nursing Center. “the four full bathrooms that we’ve had in place for a while have received lots of compliments and we expect that these four new ones will receive the same.”
Cyr said that the decision to renovate the rooms was based on their clients’ desires for privacy, as many rooms share a connecting bathroom with their neighbor. (Each room has it’s own sink in the bedroom, but a toilet was shared between two rooms).
“People were not happy about having to share [facilities] with their neighbor; [these renovations] not only provides them full privacy, it also provides a private shower,” Cyr explained, adding that private bathrooms are unique amenity to the facility.
The Caribou Rehab and Nursing Center first opened in May of 1973; the facility has a total of 64 beds and a staff of 135 — both full- and part-time employees.
“We’ve frequently received complements on our rooms as well as compliments on the service our staff provides, but people have been additionally pleased with the previous four private bathrooms and I think people will continue to be pleased with the newly remodeled bathrooms,” Cyr said.
