The search for a new superintendent continues in RSU 50 (Southern Aroostook and Katahdin school systems). According to Interim Superintendent John Doe, who has served in this capacity since May 31, the search committee met Monday evening to set up a schedule for interviewing candidates.
Doe declined to say how many applications the district received for the position.
“The committee is not prepared to release the number of applicants until the first round of the interview process is complete,” he said. “The first round should be completed by the end of the first week in April. The second round will involve the full school board interviewing the candidates. The board is hopeful to have a candidate selected in late April, with a start date of July 1 for the new superintendent.”
The district is also gearing up for another budget cycle. According to Doe, the first draft of the budget will be presented to the school board at its April 9 meeting.
Southern Aroostook Community School will also be hosting a Financial Fitness Fair for six high schools from Howland to Southern Aroostook on Wednesday, April 11, from 9-11 a.m.
