It was the first day of summer vacation. Linda and her cousin, Nathan, were going to Georgia with Linda’s mom and her Aunt Lily to see their nana. Linda lives in Tennessee. Linda and her family go in Linda’s car and drove down the road. It was the end of the day.
“We are here!” Lily said.
“This is the time of night when the rabid wolf comes out,” said Nathan.
“What rabid wolf? There is no rabid wolf,” said Linda.
“Just wait and see!” said Nathan.
Chapter 1 – Bunk Bed Problem
Linda and Nathan had to share a room. They both went to their room to unpack their bags.
“I made your beds for you,” said nana as the two cousins walked up the stairs. “Sorry you can’t have different rooms. Not to mention different beds.”
Linda ran to the room. Not Nathan. He fell. As Nathan walked into the room, Linda was unpacking.
“Oh, hi!” said Linda. “I didn’t see you there.” Linda and Nathan were done unpacking.
“Dinner is ready!” yelled mom from downstairs. Linda ran downstairs. Nathan fell again. Nathan got out of his chair.
“Before you fall again,” said Lily, “You might want to tie your shoes.”
Nathan tied his shoes and they both went upstairs. Linda and Nathan were in their beds and trying to go to sleep.
“Is the rabid wolf real?” asked Linda.
“It’s a mystery. Nobody knows. The rabid wolf is a wolf ghost and bites people to put curses on them. People call it rabid because it always bites like any other rabid animal,” said Nathan.
Chapter 2 – Nana is Cursed
“Breakfast is ready,” called mom.
The two cousins ran downstairs. No one slipped; except, their nana’s old cat named Paws.
“Where is nana?” asked Linda.
“Oh, she went outside late last night to tend the cattle,” said mom. “I told nana she can sleep in.”
Nana came into the kitchen. She had a fierce face. Nathan and Linda raced upstairs.
“Tie your shoes!” said mom to her children. “Mom, I had told you to sleep in. I’ll bring your breakfast to you.”
“Nana’s cursed,” said Linda.
“Yea,” said Nathan panting like a dog.
“But to make sure nana is really cursed we need evidence,” said Linda.
“There are three signs to know if someone is cursed. First, they growl. Second, they have a scary face. Third, they go out every night and howl to the moon,” said Nathan. “We know nana has a fierce face.”
Linda went downstairs to nana’s room.
“Grrr,” nana snarled.
But Linda thought she was growling. Linda ran upstairs again. That night, once Nathan heard the door shut, he heard a howling sound. Nana came inside five minutes later. Nathan and Linda fell asleep.
“The wolf that visits the farm is outside,” said nana.
Chapter 3 – I Saw the Wolf or Did I
“I thought you would always tell me stories,” said Linda. “But it turns out you also tell the truth.”
“I wouldn’t think wolves would be in Georgia,” said Nathan. “But a ghost I can believe.”
“We will search for the wolf tonight,” said Linda. “It’s either that or we look for Sasquatch.”
That night Linda and Nathan snuck outside and started looking for the wolf.
“Hoo, hoo, hoo. This may not have been such a good idea,” said Nathan. “Maybe we should have looked for Sasquatch tomorrow.”
“We are looking for the wolf!” screamed Linda.
After about an hour, the cousins heard something from the bushes. It was only a wild white bunny.
Linda and Nathan discussed the characteristics of nana. They decided their nana was not changing into a wolf ghost. Nathan and Linda were embarrassed that they had even thought nana was a wolf. Why had they thought such a thing?
Chapter 4 – Ghost
Nathan and Linda went home a week later. In the meanwhile, Linda’s two twin neighbors went outside for a walk.
“Don’t worry,” said Tia.
“Okay, don’t blame me when …Ghost!!!!” screamed Mia.
