The white snow blinded me as I headed towards the hill. I was scared because I knew something was going to happen. I didn’t dare tell Devin because he would call me a scaredycat. I was six, and Devin and I were sledding and we were going down a hill headed for a tree. Devin rolled off, but I didn’t know how to turn, so I crashed into a tree!
It was a spiny tree with spikes. My cheek went right across the spikes and they dug into my chin. My hands were shaking because I was afraid that the cut was too deep and that I would lose too much blood. Devin came and helped me because I was crying a lot.
I went inside and blood was dripping down my arm. My dad wrapped it up and told me I was going to be fine and to go back out on the hill. I got on my gray ski pants, my pink jacket, my Scooby Doo hat, and my blue gloves. I didn’t stay inside because I wanted to learn how to turn.
I went back outside and got back on my blue sled. I didn’t mean to, but I went down the hill headed for the tree again. Devin had told me to lean, and so I tried it! Everyone was hollering, “Turn! Turn!”, and I did! Dad was so proud of me and took me out to dinner. Mom gave me a present! I learned that in order to turn, all you do is lean to the side you want to go!
