S.W. Collins employees recognized for dedication, service

    The S.W. Collins Company recently held its annual employee dinner at the Caribou Inn and Convention Center during which several employees were recognized for their contributions to the overall success of the company.
    Sam Collins, president of the family-owned business, stressed the importance of being able to deliver the best in customer service consistently to all customers. “We need knowledgeable staff that is committed to providing the same quality customer experience to each customer walking through the door,” said Collins, “and the company is committed to providing the tools for all associates with an enhanced customer service educational program through the Northeast Retail Lumbermen’s Association.” 
    The S.W. Collins Company has an ambitious educational program with a mix of online education, a series of product DVD courses, Microsoft Excel evening classes and vendor-sponsored classes.
    Eighty-four employees and guests from the three stores (Caribou, Presque Isle and Houlton) came to celebrate the individual and team successes. Employees were recognized for their dedication to the company and commitment to providing excellence in customer service.
    Five-year certificates and awards were presented to Mark Murchison, Phil Roberts, Michael O’Brien and Kim Morrell. Mark Conley hit the 10-year milestone and Todd Pelletier was honored with his 15 years of dedication. 
    Roger Daigle received special recognition for his 15 years of service at the Presque Isle location and his planned retirement this spring. Gregg Collins noted Daigle’s role as being instrumental in the success of the Presque Isle store and, on behalf of all the employees, wished him and his wife Emily, happiness in his retirement. 
    The Annual Heart and Soul Award was presented to Cindy Dufour for her perseverance and unrelenting desire to provide world-class customer service. Dufour’s commitment to excellence as the only CKD (certified kitchen designer) north of Bangor and her recent designation as a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) provides her the tools to design kitchens, baths and living spaces for the varying needs and lifestyles. Stacy Cyr, from the Presque Isle location was also honored with the Heart and Soul Award for his desire to improve the company and provide top customer service.    
    The Positive Growth and Attitude Award was presented to Nick Plourde for his willingness to step into any position where he could assist the company, from managing the yard, to driver and sales clerk in the store. Plourde continues to always be up to the task and challenge put before him. Nick Crane received the Driver Award honors for 2011, with his willingness to go above and beyond for the customer and his attention to working safely.
    The evening’s highlight was the honoring of Deidra Violette as the 2011 Employee of the Year Award recipient. The honoree demonstrated all the criteria for the selection including teamwork, positive attitude, commitment and loyalty, initiative, adaptability and dedication to superior customer service. Violette received a standing ovation for her selection and commitment to her fellow associates, her family and the company. 
    At the conclusion of the evening event, Sam Collins offered thanks to all of the associates for their commitment to offering excellent products and legendary service as they strive to be an active positive influence in the communities in which they live and work.
