CASTLE HILL – Arthur James Boyles, 90, passed away Monday, March 26, 2012, at a Houlton health care facility. He was born on Sept. 23, 1921, in Castle Hill, son of William and Bertha (Richardson) Boyles.
He was member of the Castle Hill Advent Church. Arthur spent most his life farming and later worked as a mechanic at MPG Truck and Tractor in Presque Isle until his retirement.
He is survived by a daughter, Sandra J. Haynes; sons, Arthur “Larry” Boyles and his companion, Debbie Willette of Mapleton, Bruce and Robert of Castle Hill, Wallace and his wife, Melody of Presque Isle; a daughter-in-law, Irene Boyles of Presque Isle; grandchildren, Robin Haynes, Virginia L. White, Josh Boyles, Amanda Dyer and Katrina Boyles; great-grandchildren, Steven Holmes, Samantha and Kenneth White, step-children, Charlotte, Warren Jr., Gerald, Peter, Neil and Carlton Oakes, all of Ashland.
Arthur was predeceased by his first wife, Lulu (Curtis) Boyles in 1984; his second wife, Catherine Oakes in 2001; a son, James Robert Boyles in 2010; and a son-in-law, Sterling Haynes in 2011.
In keeping with his wishes, a graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012, at the Southside Cemetery, Mapleton, with Rev. George McLaughlin officiating.
