ASHLAND – Mary E. Pendexter, 75, wife of late Herbert O. Pendexter, passed into the arms of Jesus for her journey home to God on Sunday, March 26, 2012, at TAMC / A.R. Gould Hospital. She was born October 4, 1936, the daughter of late Thomas and Adrienne (Smart) Bushey.
A wonderful wife and mother, this crafty lady kept busy sewing clothing for her young children and preserved most of the produce her husband grew, as well as the wild foods he and his children harvested. Some of Mary’s crafts were transported halfway around the world to their new homes. Mary loved sitting on her bench swing watching her husband, Herbie, in the garden, and watching the many birds, especially the humming birds, her favorites.
Mary is survived and will be sorely missed by: a son, Edmund O. Pendexter and special friend, Nancy Willette; four daughters, Donna L. Riley and husband, John of Presque Isle, Ninette Hungerford and husband, Dan of Lebanon, Rita Pendexter of Castle Hill, and Linda Pendexter, her special daughter and devoted caregiver; a sister, Bernadette Christenson of Fort Fairfield; a special friend she “adopted” as another son, Randy Jacques of Presque Isle; two special cousins, Geraldine “Deanie” Beckwith and Cheryl Miller; and her special cat, Pretty Girl.
Mary is predeceased by half-brothers, Bert and Roger Babin; half-sister, Joanne Babin; and a brother, Larry Bushey.
Per Mary’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral.
Donations to her family to assist with her cremation services would be greatly appreciated and may be sent to: Linda Pendexter, PO Box 124, Ashland, ME 04732. Arrangements are in the care of Stimson-Ouellette Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St., Ashland. To share condolences online, please visit www.ouellettefuneralhome.com
