Extension holds regular monthly meeting
The Spragueville Homemakers Extension held its regular monthly meeting on March 26 at the PI Congregational Church with 11 members attending.
President Sylvia Harper also welcomed five members of the Mapleton Extension, who will be co-hosting the County Extension Spring Tea on May 19 with the Spragueville Extension.
Harper called the meeting to order, the creed was recited, roll call taken, volunteers hours recorded and LaVone Walters gave the treasurer’s report. Harper then thanked the members who worked and provided food for the Jan. 27 “Stew Night” at the PI Snowmobile Club; the Feb. 25 “Get Outside Fun Day” at the Aroostook State Park; and the March 7 “OTC Fun Day” at the Shriner’s facility.
Marianne Thomas spoke on the need for food or monetary donations to the “GIFT” food pantry. Members then voted to make a cash donation.
In other business, Harper brought up the subject of the group possibly donating items for the waiting room of the soon-to-be-open St. Appollonia Dental Clinic. It was voted to purchase books and other child activity items for the clinic. Harper also reported the Maine Extension Homemakers Council’s spring meeting would be held April 28 in Waterville. She had registration forms available for interested members.
Following the business meeting, a discussion was held with the Mapleton members on the Spring Tea. It was decided it would be held at the Chapman Snowmobile Club. The Mapleton Extension will be responsible for decorations and the Spragueville Extension will take care of the luncheon. Both groups will furnish gift baskets for a raffle drawing.
Following the planning discussion, refreshments were served by attending Spragueville members.
