HOULTON — The Southern Aroostook Cultural Arts Project is hosting a free writing workshop entitled “Writing From Your Life: Using Memories and Experiences to Create Stories and Essays,” with Jan Grieco and Kacey Grieco-McNeally on Wednesday, May 23 from 6-8 p.m. at the Houlton Regional Hospital Education Center.
Grieco is a writer, reader, former journalist and teacher of English and literature. She is an English instructor at the Northern Maine Community College and serves as a co-chair of the college’s Assessment Committee. She is also on the college’s Foundation Board.
Grieco received her bachelor’s degree in liberal studies from Vermont College of Norwich University and has a master’s degree in fiction from the University of Southern Maine’s Stonecoast MFA Program. Her short stories have appeared in Iris and Cracked Lenses, and her nonfiction has appeared in regional and national publications.
She is currently pursuing a doctorate in post secondary and adult education from Capella University. She and her husband raise and sell organic vegetables and fruits from their farm in Perham.
Grieco-McNeally is a writer and reader of English and literature and an adjunct instructor of English and literature at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. She received her bachelor’s degree in English from Guilford College, studied fiction at Emerson College’s MFA program and received her master’s degree in fiction from the University of Southern Maine’s Stonecoast MFA program.
Her work has appeared in The MacGuffin and she has written for Echoes. She lives in Westmanland with her husband and two sons.
