Caribou High excels at MDI Relays

BAR HARBOR — The Caribou High School girls’ track and field team continued their winning ways over the weekend at the MDI Relays on Saturday.

Caribou totaled 144 points to take the 12-team meet. Old Town (107) finished second, followed by Brewer (98), Orono (79), John Bapst (66), MDI (43), Hampden (27), Central and Fort Fairfield (24), Hermon (11), Calais (10), Penquis (6), Mattanawcook (5) and Washington Academy (1).

In the boys’ meet, Caribou (74) finished third, behind meet winner Hampden (93) and Brewer (83). Old Town (71) was fourth, followed by Central (41), Orono (35), Hermon (32), Mattanawcook (28), Fort Fairfield (26), John Bapst (21), Calais (14), Penquis (12) and Washington Academy (7).

Local athletes in the top-six in the girls and mixed competitions include:

200-meter dash —3, Olivia Sleeper, CAR, 28.85

1,600-meter run — 4, Mackenzie Belyea, CAR, 5:55.78 and 5, Nerissa Larrabee, CAR, 6:01.45.

100-meter hurdles — 2, Sarae Sager, CAR, 17.13. 3.

1,600-meter race walk —1, Paige Small, CAR, 8:58.14 and 6, Katrina McPherson, CAR, 10:38.45.

4×200-meter relay —3, Caribou ‘A’ (Sager, Annie Collins, Reanna Plourde, O. Sleeper), 1:59.13.

Distance medley 4K — 1, Caribou ‘A’ (Belyea, Alissa Randolph, Katie Plourde, Sarah Doak), 13:57.16.

4×60-meter shuttle hurdle —2, Caribou ‘A’ (Sager, Small, Katrina McPherson, Kelly Kashian), 46.91. 3 and 4, Caribou ‘B’ (Haley Hunter, Chaya Karunasi, Randolph, Elsa Thibodeau), 55.51.

Mixed 1200-sprint medley coed finals — 3, Caribou ‘A’ (Nick Pucci, Mackenzie Deveau, Caleb Chapman, Randolph), 3:03.51

1,600-sprint medley freshmen — 2, Caribou ‘A’ (Rebecca Page, Emilee Susi, Deveau, Doak), 5:11.76. and 6, Caribou ‘B’ (Lauren Chapman, Elise Gudde, Chelsea Haney, Kristen Macek), 5:29.12.

4×100-meter relay —1, Caribou ‘A’ (Sager, Collins, R. Plourde, O. Sleeper), 54.93.

300-meter hurdles —5, Brendan Wood, CAR, 47.09.

Distance medley 4K — 1, Caribou  ‘A’ (Ron Lund, Sean Barbosa, Jesse Sandstrom, Chapman), 12:15.68.

1,600-sprint medley freshmen — 2, Caribou  ‘A’ (Colby Holdsworth, Mitchell St. Peter, Austin Griffeth, Taylor Thibodeau), 4:26.19.

4×100-meter relay — 5, Caribou  ‘A’ (Cody Charette, Pucci, Charm Karunasi, Kjetil Rossignol), 50.00.

4×800-meter relay — 2, Caribou  ‘A’ (Barbosa, Kinney, Lund, Sandstrom), 9:24.66.  

Long jump team — 1, Ft. Fairfield ‘A’  (Andrew Lewis, Jacob Wortman, Legeorge Williams) 51-11.25.

The Aroostook County track meet will be held on Friday at Caribou High School at 4 p.m. Caribou, Fort Kent, Presque Isle, Fort Fairfield, Limestone and Washburn will be taking part.
