Woods, Randall J., 45, April 21, 2012. Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Houlton.
WINTERPORT – Randall “Randy” J. Woods, age 45, died unexpectedly on April 21, 2012 at his home in Winterport. He was born on April 12, 1967 in Montreal, P.Q., Canada., the son of Dr. Donald and Helen Woods.
Randy was a 1985 graduate of Houlton High School, then attended S.M.V.T.I. in South Portland where, in 1987, he received an associate degree in Hotel, Motel and Restaurant Management and Culinary Arts. After working a few years in his father’s office he enrolled at the Bangor Campus of U.M.A. and, with much hard work, earned an associate degree in Dental Hygiene, passing both his national and regional boards.
Among the things Randy enjoyed were hanging out with friends, playing video games, cooking and, early on, riding his dirt bike. Many hours were spent visiting with friends on Facebook, and listening to his favorite band, Metallica. His friends have expressed appreciation of his kindness of heart, often taking in people who needed a place to stay.
Randy is survived by his parents, Dr. Donald and Helen Woods; his brother, Dr. Karl and his wife, Lisa and their sons, Cody and Robert; two sisters, Amy Metherell and her husband, Walter, and their daughter, Mary Drew, May Knights and her husband, Joseph, and their daughters, Kristina and her husband, Jimmy, and Holly and her sons, Cameron and Hunter; aunts, Mary Lou Gray and Annegaye Ellis of Phoenix, AZ. He will also be missed by many friends, special among them Joe Chekovsky.
We want to thank all of those who have offered their sympathy and help at this difficult time. Randy was much loved and will be missed. He was also especially grateful to his Aunt “Margie” Drew and late grandmother, Edna Drew, for all the help and support they gave him.
Friends called 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, April 29 at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water Street, Houlton. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 30 at the Houlton United Methodist Church of which he was a member. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a special fund at the Houlton United Methodist Church, Reach for Life, 28 School Street, Houlton, ME 04730 or a charity of your choice.
