Denny Young, center, is this year’s recipient of the William J. Smith Award, given annually to the Presque Isle Peewee hockey player demonstrating the spirit of sportsmanship, and who, in the opinion of the coaches, shows outstanding dedication to the sport of hockey. After Smith’s passing in 1993, his family has honored him and kept his hockey memories alive by giving the award. Smith’s children, Chris Smith and Kim Wright, presented the award to Young, who in addition to a plaque received a gift certificate to Olympia Sports
