For more than 30 years area vocalists, under the direction of Dan Ladner, have consistently provided two concerts each year, concerts which have yet to be anything other than pure musical magic.

The perfect blending of voices belonging to the 45 members of the Caribou Choral Society, under the direction of Dan Ladner, presented the group’s annual spring concert, “Look to the Day,” on May 5 in Caribou and May 6 in Presque Isle.

On May 5, singing at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Caribou, the many talented voices once again performed under the energetic Ladner to a large audience.

Singing a variety of selections ranging from “The Humming Chorus” from “Madam Butterfly” by Giacomo Puccini; featuring soloists Jayne Shaw and two fourth-grade students Colby Giberson and Ethan Cassidy, singing “Pie Jesu” from “Requiem, by Andrew Lloyd Webber, to “Sunrise, Sunset” from “Fiddler on the Roof” and “What a Wonderful World, with wonderful solo presentations by John Gorman of Fort Fairfield and Elaine Moody of Presque Isle, the audience was treated to familiar  favorites and new songs.

Caribou Choral Society member Sue Herold, accompanied the group with her violin during the selection of  “Send in the Clowns” at the May 5 annual spring concert performance.

The May 5 event also featured solo presentations by Sue Beaudet, Doug Giroux and Peter Penny. Margaret Cyr of Caribou was guest pianist accompanying the group during the selection, “I Love a Piano.”

A smiling Ladner gave choral members the “thumbs up” signal following the final note of “I was Glad When They Said Unto Me.” The entire performance deserved this same sign of approval, a performance made possible by the many gifted individuals who along with Ladner, never fail to provide a concert that is well worth attending.
