YORK, Donald, 65, MECHANIC FALLS, AUBURN, May 8, 2012. At his request, there will be no funeral services held at this time. Arrangements are by Oxford Hills and Weston Funeral Services, Oxford, Maine.

MECHANIC FALLS, AUBURN – Donald York, 65, died Tuesday May 8, 2012 at the Hospice House in Auburn after a long illness. He was born April 25, 1947, the son of Albert and Mary (Hilton) York, in Presque Isle. He was educated in Presque Isle schools and graduated in 1965.

  American Flag Color  He served honorably in the Maine National Guard from 1965-1970.

    Donald and his wife, Carol (Letourneau) York were married in 1982 and were together for almost 30 years. He worked for many years for Bath Iron Works, retiring in 1992 due to health issues. After his retirement, he returned to school and was awarded a degree in computer science from Mid-State College. For years after that, he volunteered his time and energy providing computer repair and technical support to the town of Mechanic Falls in the Town Office, Police Department and Water Department. He felt strongly that as a citizen of Mechanic Falls, he could make a difference.

    He is survived by his wife, Carol; sons, David and wife, Stacey of Mechanic Falls, Daniel and wife, Tammy of Lisbon Falls, and Derek, of Yorktown, VA; daughter, Cherie of Yorktown, VA; stepsons, Jason Cloutier and wife, Arlyn, Jody Cloutier and wife, Kristy, of Duvall, WA; grandchildren, Ciera and husband, Corey Colson of Fredericksburg, VA, Matthew and Derek York of Mechanic Falls, ME, Samantha Sirois, of Yorktown, VA, and John Cloutier of Duvall, WA. He is also survived by brothers, Albert of Long Beach, Calif., and Arnold, of Presque Isle; sisters Clara and husband, Bob Boyce of Bucksport, ME, and Sharon Fox of Presque Isle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

    He will be sadly missed by us all.

    He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Michael; and a son, Darryl York.

    At Donald’s request, there will be no funeral services held at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to The Hospice House, 236 Stetson Road, Auburn, ME 04210.
