Driver charged with criminal speed

PRESQUE ISLE — A Caribou motorist has a date in court, after he was stopped for speeding on the Caribou Road on May 4.

Around 2 a.m., Sgt. Mark Barnes, of the Presque Isle Police Department, observed a 2012 Subaru Impreza speeding on the Caribou Road, heading north. Barnes activated his lights and the vehicle eventually stopped near the Caribou town line.

According to police records, the motorist was identified as Nicholas P. Dumond, 24, of Caribou. Dumond reportedly admitted to reaching 120 mph at one point. Dumond was summonsed for criminal speeding and given a court date of June 6.
