Football organizational meeting planned
A recruiting meeting for the Aroostook Football League Huskies team will be held on Wednesday, May 30 at 7 p.m. in the Edmunds Conference Center on the Northern Maine Community College campus. This important one-hour meeting is for players living in the SAD 1 area who will be in one of three age groups in the fall — grades 5-6, grades 7-8 and grades 9-12 — and their parents, as well as any adult who is interested in becoming involved as a coach, medical personnel or game official.
According to League President Stu Wyckoff, the NMCC meeting is being held because the football program is no longer able to come to SAD 1 schools to provide information about the league and to sign up players for the coming season.
“If you or anyone you know is interested in receiving information about the football program and the coming season, you are encouraged to attend this informative session,” said Wyckoff.
He added that coaches will be on hand to answer questions and to provide all necessary information about the 2012 season, including how to get involved in next month’s free clinic sponsored by the NFL and the National Guard.
Persons who are unable to attend the May 30 meeting are encouraged to visit the AFL website (www.aroostookfootball.org) and send a message with their contact information and particular interest in the program by clicking on the “Contact Us” link. Wyckoff can be reached at 764-7651.
