On April 27, seven Christian schools from across the state of Maine convened at Bangor Christian School to vie for academic and fine arts honors in math, speech, art and music.
The Greater Houlton Christian Academy elementary choir, Heavenly Harmony, pleased the judges with three selections breaking into harmonized parts at several points in their performance. Abby Angotti confidently hit every note on her flute solo beautifully. Allana Walker stunned the crowd with her bold original speech about her walk with the Lord on the stage of life.

Walker, Bridget Hill, Mercedes Farn, Ellen Hatfield, Alex Stanley and Grace Graham all achieved blue ribbon scores by the judges with their well-practiced speech presentations.
Mathletes, Bailey Donovan and Graham, garnered the blue honors in math computation, while Farn’s artwork was recognized with a blue ribbon.
“We are proud of all the students for their effort, good report and excellent spirit,” said Tom Zimmerman, assistant head of school at GHCA.
“Maine Academic Day cannot happen without the able assistance of parents and friends who volunteer a day to help wherever needed. A special thanks also to Mr. Angotti, chairman of the science fair and to Mrs. Neureuther who ably stepped forward to fill the math chair mid year when the original chair person had to resign,” said Zimmerman.
“It was good for Academy students to see and meet students from other Christian schools and to compete academically. It was also good to hear and see all the students applaud their friends and school mates for their successes,” he added.bs-ghca2-dcx-pt-20BLUE RIBBON — The Greater Houlton Christian Academy elementary choir, Heavenly Harmony, directed by Jane Zimmerman brought home a blue ribbon from the Academic Day at Bangor Christian School on April 27.
