Caribou – Eva M. Martin, 85, wife of the Late Lionel Martin died May 15, 2012, at Caribou following a brief illness. She was born in Van Buren July 7, 1926, the daughter of the late Thaddie and Irene (Sirois) Theriault. Mrs. Martin was educated in the Van Buren Schools, and was a longtime member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne. Eva was a loving and devoted wife, mother, foster mother and grandmother who worked very hard and took great pride in helping her husband on the family farm. She always grew a fine garden and enjoyed canning and sharing her vegetables. Eva was a true social butterfly who lived life to its fullest. She had an ability to interact with people of all ages and enjoyed meeting people at County Physical Therapy, Farm Bakery and The Par and Grill. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren, watching television action shows or enjoying a meal somewhere. She was a longtime charter member of the former Pete’s Maple Grove Club.
She is survived by her son, Gary Martin of Caribou; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Nancy Morneault of Connor Twp., Irene and Daniel Thibodeau of Titusville, Fl., Carlene and Norman Martin Jr., and Ann Marie and Gary Gagnon all of Caribou; one sister, Yvonne Devost of Madawaska; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Martin was predeceased by her husband, Lionel in 1994; a brother, Rudolph Theriault; three sisters, Jeanne Soucy, Bella Martin and Marthe Caron; and a son-in-law, Paul Morneault.
Friends called at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou 7-9 p.m. Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at the Parish of the Precious Blood, Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment was in the parish cemetery with a time of continued fellowship and refreshments following at the parish center.
