Ashland Project Graduation receives donation

Members of the Ashland District School senior class and Project Graduation received a check in the amount of $300 from the Pioneer Lodge 72 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons.

To earn this money, students and adult committee members assisted the Masons with a supper prior to the donation. The Pioneer Lodge in Ashland donated $150 which was matched with $150 as one of several Youth Activity Grants awarded throughout the state by the Masonic Charitable Foundation of the Grand Lodge of Masons in Maine.
Ashland Summer Food Service Program
The Ashland District School will be participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children without charge. Meals will be served in the Ashland District School cafeteria from 11-11:30 a.m., Monday through Friday, starting June 25 and running to July 31. All meals are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. There will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. Come join them for lunch!
Portage Lake Congregational Church services
The Portage Lake Congregational Church will begin its summer services June 3 at 10 a.m. All are invited and welcomed to attend. There will also be activities for children. Light refreshments will be served after each service. For more information, call 435-6881.
Tillikum Chapter raffle

Tillikum Chapter 99 Order of the Eastern Star in Ashland sold raffle tickets recently for a Mother’s Day-themed gift basket. The basket was overflowing with products and gift certificates for beauty treatments courtesy of Walmart, Virtue’s Salon and Day Spa in Presque Isle along with Shear Delight also located in Presque Isle. The Chapter would like to thank Heidi and Carol for their generous donations and thank all who purchased tickets! The lucky winner of the spa basket was Roy Clark. Congratulations, Roy! Proceeds from the sale of raffle tickets will benefit chapter charities.
Mr. Ashland Pageant
Five of Ashland’s loveliest ladies, I mean men … will be competing in the Mr. Ashland Pageant being held Friday, June 1 at the Ashland District School auditorium beginning at 7 p.m. The divas competing in this year’s most exclusive competition are Ashland seniors Amos Ward, Royce MacDonald, Mark Norris, Justin Pelletier and Joseph Day. The contestants will be judged for their poise, charm and talent, along with interview questions. Admission will be by donation and all proceeds will go directly to the 2012 Project Graduation. This will be their last fundraiser before graduation, so come on out to support our graduating seniors! It’s a fun night and should provide plenty of material for future harassment of the contestants and laughs for years to come!
Flea market
There will be a flea market on the corner of Route 11 and the Presque Isle Road in Ashland Saturday, June 2 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. For a table, call 764-4358.
