It’s shaping up to be an exciting last week of the schoolgirl regular softball season. Several Class D teams from the region are looking at postseason play and in Class B Caribou is a lock for the playoffs, while Presque Isle is hanging onto the last spot by a thread.

Here’s a recap of games played through Monday:

LCS/MSSM 14, Fort Kent 5 — The Eagles bounced back from only their second loss of the season with a road victory over Fort Kent on Monday.

Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Mathematics remains the top seed in EM Class D with a 10-2 record. East Grand is in second place only two points behind in the tournament index.

In the first game Saturday, Emily Staples fired a three-hitter, striking out 10.

Rebecca McDougal had two triples and an RBI and Jamie Martin had two doubles and three RBI in the Viking win. Anesha Hersey, Jordyn Doucette and Staples had two singles each.
