CARIBOU — Auto racing returns to Spud Speedway in Caribou on Sunday, May 27 at 1 p.m.

The 48th season opener will feature the first of five Late Model Sportsman races with a 50-lap feature and the debut of a brand new division called the Cary Medical Center Challenger series.

This new class will offer drivers an affordable way to get into the sport. The rules in this class are simple, take a car install a single roll bar and a driver’s door bar, take out the excess glass, headlights and taillights and get ready to go racing.

Also this year on opening day Steve Perry, host of Mainely Motorsports, will be on hand to meet fans and be the grand marshall.
