ROTARY DONATION
The Presque Isle Rotary Club recently made a $650 donation to the sixth-grade class at Presque Isle Middle School that helped fund their class visits to the Challenger Learning Center of Maine in Bangor.
The center offers students authentic, hands-on simulations similar to NASA space missions and presents science and technology themes in the context of realistic space exploration. Students also learn teamwork, communication, problem-solving and decision-making during the simulations. Approximately 120 Presque Isle Middle School sixth-graders participated in the Challenger simulations. Taking part in a check presentation ceremony are, from left: sixth-grade students Tyler Levesque, Garrett Halley, Isabelle Jackson, Nicholas Brown-Valiquette and Sadie Kinney. Back row: Casey Johnson, Nancy Watson, Presque Isle Rotary Club President Jeff Pangburn and Erin Hoffses. Johnson, Watson and Hoffses are all sixth-grade teachers who took their classes to the Challenger Learning Center.
