HOULTON — The Houlton Amphitheatre will be rocking Sunday, June 3, as five acts are slated to perform mini concerts as a fundraiser for the annual Arootsakoostik Music Festival.
According to Jason Howe, a member of the Houlton band “Mellow Endeavor,” music will reverberate around Houlton’s Monument Park from 1-6 p.m.
Slated to perform are Jenna Campbell of the Bangor group “Ripple Effect,” Jon McQuarrie of the Houlton-band “Doubletap,” Chuck Loucka, a piano player from the Houlton area and Travis Cyr, of the Caribou group “Strings of Calamity.” Closing out the show will be “Mellow Endeavor.”
“We hope people will bring their chairs or blankets and enjoy some fine local music,” Howe said. “There is no cost for this show, but we will be accepting donations to help with the costs of putting on the Arootsakoostik show in July.”
The Arootsakoostik Music Festival, slated for Saturday, July 2 at Thomas Park in New Sweeden, is an outdoor music event that brings musicians from around the state to The County. The festival features acoustic folk, bluegrass, soul and rock music.
Proceeds from that event benefit the Thomas Park Restoration Project. In years past, the festival has raised money for Make-A-Wish and various local food pantries.
