OAKFIELD – James “Jim” Holton Kinson, 79, went to be with the Lord June 6, 2012. He was born March 12, 1933, in Charleston, N.H., where he was raised, the son of Ernest R. and Eva (Brown) Kinson.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Europe with the 265th Artillery division. Returning home, he married Judith (Cuthbert) in 1957. They settled in Connecticut, where he was employed at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft as a jet engine test operator and welder. He later moved his family to Harmony for a slower pace of life and started the Lord Sheltered Farm, raising sheep for a home knitting business. During that period he was employed by Guilford Industries as the supervisor, later becoming self employed as a sales representative for Watts ball valves and Esko lubricating systems, calling on paper mills and Loring Air Force Base. Because of his love of Aroostook County, he moved his home to Oakfield to continue raising sheep, having 200-plus until recent years. He was known as the sheep farmer. Several summers were spent managing a private island – Fisherman Island.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and was proud of his family. He enjoyed gardening, visiting with friends, reading, listen to history and supporting his favorite New England sports teams.
