The fair, which included games, information and a raffle, was part of a service-learning project the students were involved with since identifying an abundance of cats and dogs available for adoption at the Central Aroostook Humane Society as a problem. The students raised $382 for the shelter through the sale of T-shirts, raffle tickets and homemade cat and dog treats. A number of people donated money to the shelter, as well. Here, top row, Elaine Hendrickson, left, presents the check to Christine Robinson of the shelter as Aaron Swanson, R-Jay Jackson, Chandler Caron and Bradley Kinney look on. Also participating were, from left, second row: Faith Leavitt, Casey Lovely, Marielle Shaw and Victoria Williamson. Third row: Makenzie King, Alexis Bell, Calie Soucy, Alexis Simpson and Emily Lagerstrom. Bottom row: Tifini Lee, Haley Moro, Cassidy Clair and Sarah Morneault. The orange T-shirts were donated through contributions from the shelter’s board of directors. In total, five cats were adopted as a result of the students’ efforts.
