FORT FAIRFIELD — Jake B. Rogeski, 24, of Fort Fairfield, has requested a trial in connection with his being charged last September with possessing sexually explicit material.
Rogeski, who worked with an after-school program, was indicted by the Aroostook County grand jury in March. According to District Attorney Todd Collins, a status conference was held on the case in May, with Rogeski requesting the case go to trial.
At the time of Rogeski’s arrest, the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit had spent several days in Aroostook County investigating a lead that ultimately led to a search of Rogeski’s home, said Sgt. Glenn Lang.
According to Lang, officers found a number of items, including over a dozen video clips, in Rogeski’s possession. The images depicted youth as young as 5 years of age. Officials do not believe any of the victims to be local.
Rogeski was employed by SAD 20 in Fort Fairfield as an assistant with the 21st Century After School program for about four years but quit after the investigation got under way. While employed, Rogeski dealt with children in grades three through six. The program offers assistance to area students with homework and provides healthful snacks and promotes youth excelling academically and socially.
Following his arrest last fall, Rogeski was able to make bail, with conditions to include no contact with minors. He is also not allowed to possess any technology that could be used to access the Internet.
Rogeski appeared in court June 20, where he pled not guilty to possession of child pornography. His next court appearance is scheduled in August.
