    Members of the Pattee-Page Post and Auxiliary 187 of Easton honored the Easton veterans on Memorial Day with a service and the laying of a poppy wreath at the Veteran’s Memorial on the high school grounds. They then moved on to the bridge for another short service there to honor those who served their country honorably and well.

A wreath of cedar and poppies was tossed into the river by Gold Star Mother, Freida Dionne. Members participating were John Trask, Jeannie Kneeland, Ida Doak, Eldora Carter, Commander Roland Michaud, Rick Brown, Clair Carter, Lorette Adams, Darrell Adams and Anita Michaud.

 

Easton Wesleyan Church hosting special program

    The Easton Wesleyan Church will be hosting a special program on Sunday mornings for children ages 2 to sixth grade entitled, “Sky — Everything is Possible with God.” This will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. It includes a Bible story, games, music, science activities, crafts, puppetry and a missions project. All children are invited to join us. If you have any questions, contact Pastor Vaughn Martin at 227-3589.

    The Town Office will be closed Wednesday, July 4.

    Zumbatomic: These classes are rocking, high-energy fitness parties packed with specially choreographed, kid-friendly routines and all the kinds of music kids love like hip-hop, reggaetion, cumbia and more! Parents love it because of the effect it has on kids, increasing their focus and self-confidence, boosting metabolism and enhancing coordination. Classes will be held Thursdays, July 5, 12, 19 and 26 from 12:15-1:15 p.m. at the hall. The cost is $8.

    Swimming lessons will be held at the Presque Isle Indoor Pool and are open to those ages four and older. Students will be split by abilities. Classes will be held on Fridays from July 6-Aug. 3 at 9 a.m. The bus departs at 8:30 a.m. and will return by 10:20 a.m. The cost is $17.50 ($13.75 for additional child).

    Playgroup: This is a time for our youngest children to interact with kids their own age. Activities will take place both inside and outside, so please dress your child appropriately. This program is open to children ages 3 through just completing kindergarten. The group will meet Fridays from July 6-Aug. 3 from 10:30-11:45 a.m. at the hall.

    Project Wilderness will be held July 9, 10 and 12 from 1-4 p.m. The cost is $15. Open to grades 2 and up. Participants should have gear for all conditions; no cancellations for weather.

    Wednesday, July 4 — Town Office closed and no Recreation Department activities in observance of the Fourth of July.

    Thursday, July 5 — Day Camp at the hall from 9 a.m.-noon. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Zumbatomic from 12:15-1:15 p.m. at the hall. Pre-registration is required; open to ages four and up. Community Tea starting at 3 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall. Swimming from 1:45-4:15 p.m. Laser Tag at the Elementary School from 5:30-7 p.m. for ages 11 and under and 7-9 p.m. for children 12 and older.

    Friday, July 6 — Swim lessons departing from the hall at 8:30 a.m. and returning by 10:20 a.m. Playgroup from 10:30-11:45 a.m. for ages 3 through those who recently completed kindergarten. Science Center open house from 1-4 p.m. Kiwanis Chicken Barbecue from 4-6:30 p.m. at the Elementary School cafeteria. Cribbage Tournament at Easton Elementary School starting at 7 p.m. The cost is $2 to play. Movie Night at Easton Elementary School starting at 7 p.m.

    Sunday, July 8 — Softball games; Recreation Department versus Fire Department at 6 p.m. and Triple A’s against Mutual Aid starting at 7:15 p.m.

    Monday, July 9 — Day Camp at the hall from 9 a.m.-noon. Today we’ll be going strawberry picking, the cost is $3 for berries. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Senior Nutrition class starting at 11 a.m. in the Manor. The cost is $3. Garden Group at the hall from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Wilderness Camp at 490 Ladner Road from 1-4 p.m. Pre-registration is required. Swimming from 1:45-4:15 p.m. Zumba class from 6-7 p.m. in the Elementary School gym. Pre-registration is preferred.

    Tuesday, July 10 — Day Camp at the hall from 9 a.m.-noon. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Wilderness Camp at 490 Ladner Road from 1-4 p.m. East Ridge will take on Fire Department at 6 p.m. and Mutual Aid will play DFI at 7:15 p.m.
