In Minor League play July 9, the County FCU topped Key Bank, 13-4, behind Chance Bragan and Austin Plourde, who had five hits each, and Zack Fletcher and Alex Graves, who notched four each.
Key Bank was led by Connor DeMerchant and Noah Flynn, who both had four hits. Ethan St. Jean added three hits.
On the defensive side, the CFCU’s Joe Bolstridge and Mason Fletcher made great plays to keep the game close with Key Bank’s Riley Roderick and Noah Flynn showcasing their defensive talents.
In Minor League action July 12, Katahdin Trust narrowly beat NorState, 1-0. Offensively, Katahdin Trust’s Ricky Goupille had a double in the third inning and Jacob Smith knocked him in for the lone run of the game. Goupille had 13 strikeouts in five innings on the mound for the pitching win.
In Major League play, Kiwanis topped the Elks, 9-6. Griffen Guerrette and Jack Beaulieu both reached base in the fourth inning and were driven home by Carter Doughery to break a 6-6 deadlock. Thomas Patenaude, RJ Gross and Alexis Quevedo strung together consecutive hits to fuel a second-inning rally for the Elks.
In an another contest, the Elks tripped up the Kiwanis, 4-3. Jonah Hudson got the win on the hill for the Elks, but relied on a game-winning RBI by Gross. Defensively, Chase Quirion made some fantastic plays to help the Elks gain the triumph.
Ifeanyi Sargent played a great game in the outfield for the Kiwanis, limiting base runners to very few extra bases. Quevedo showed off his power, sending a ball deep into the outfield for a key RBI.
In Pony League action, Cushman’s Cristian Nunez set the stage for the 8-0 shutout win over Ashland by pitching three scoreless innings and allowing only one hit while striking out four. Teammtes Dustin LaCroix and Grant Bridges helped preserve the shutout by making many great plays in the field.
Oliver Garrish led Cushman’s offense by going 2 for 2 with a double and Nunez added 5 RBIs in the victory.
