Play to benefit Wieden Auditorium
FORT KENT — Don’t miss the University of Maine at Fort Kent Summer Theatre production of William Shakespeare’s comedy, “Twelfth Night.” The play opens on Thursday, July 26, at 7 p.m. with a matinee performance on Sunday, July 29, at 2 p.m. Both performances will be held in Fox Auditorium on the UMFK campus.
Tickets are $8 general admission and will be available at the door.
Shakespeare’s enduring comedy, “Twelfth Night,” chronicles a tale of love, mistaken identity and self-discovery. The play showcases Shakespeare’s mastery of language and his ability to materialize the dualistic nature of man’s existence.
“We’re very excited to be performing Shakespeare’s wild gender-bending comedy “Twelfth Night” this year. We have a great cast and think audiences will love the show. We’re also proud to be working in conjunction with UMPI to make this UMFK Summer Theatre’s first touring production. We’ll be doing two shows at UMPI to help benefit their auditorium renovation project. It is part of our mission to spread performing arts to underserved areas, and all of Aroostook County certainly qualifies as underserved. We aim to cast as wide a net as possible in future seasons, and the UMPI shows are a great place for us to start. Please come enjoy the talent of your community members,” notes Producer Aaron Bernstein.
Dates for the UMPI performances are Friday, July 27, and Saturday, July 28, at 7 p.m. at Wieden Audtirium. Tickets $10 for adults and $8 for students. For more information on the play or renovations, call 768-9447.
