NICHOLS, Merrill (Nick) Craft, 93, PRESQUE ISLE & FLORIDA, May 11, 2012.
PRESQUE ISLE & FLORIDA – Merrill Craft Nichols passed away May 11, 2012. He was born in Bridgewater on October 22, 1918 and grew up in Presque Isle.
Merrill graduated from Presque Isle High School. He joined the US Army in 1944, stationed in Italy during World War II and was honorably discharged as Staff Sageant in August of 1946. He was past commander of the AmericanLegion. Merrill joined Maine Public Service Company in Presque Isle in 1946 and retired as chief accountant and office manager after 37 years of service.
Merrill and his wife moved to Venice, Florida and truly enjoyed 28 years of retirement in paradise playing golf, traveling extensively including 34 cruises and walking four miles per day on Venice beach.
He is survived by his daughther, Brenda Nichols Spencer of Webster Lake, Massachusetts, who is as appreciative of the wonderful man and dad she had the privilege of knowing. Merrill is also survived by his granddaughter, Carla Jo Jerome and husband, Adrian and great-granddaughter, Abigail of Exeter, Florida; grandsons, David, Michael and Barry; eight great-grandchildren; and his first great-great-grandson, born on his birthday, October 22 of last year.
Dad’s passing has left a void that cannot be filled.
