HOULTON — Twenty 2 Vodka has leapt to the forefront of industry spirit competitions by taking home its ninth award at the 2012 Spirits International Prestige (SIP) Awards. This is the ninth major award Twenty 2 Vodka has received in the last three years, making the Maine-based brand America’s most-awarded vodka.
Twenty 2 Vodka has received top honors in the last four consecutive tasting competitions, including the distinguished Platinum status at the 4th annual SIP Awards held July 14 in Irvine, California. The event invited 60 select consumer judges to evaluate more than 300 spirits from around the globe on aroma, taste and finish. Twenty 2 Vodka is the first spirit to ever receive back-to-back Platinum honors at this international consumer tasting competition, previously taking home Platinum honors at the 2011 SIP Awards.
Twenty 2 Vodka’s awards are for its unbeatably smooth and neutral taste, a product of the company’s one-of-a-kind distillation process. Scott Galbiati and wife Jessica Jewell, founders of The Northern Maine Distilling Company, created Twenty 2 Vodka with a commitment to the integrity of a “small batch” operation.
Their top-shelf vodka is a product of a Maine designed distillation process engineered on American-made equipment. The vodka is created in 50-gallon batches, ensuring the utmost precision and control. Twenty 2 is blended with water sourced from pristine Northern Maine to achieve the highest quality and finest possible mix-ability. The true micro distillation process produces a level of quality and superior neutrality that is unique to Twenty 2 Vodka and not often obtained by larger brands.
“The secret to our success is that we didn’t invent a new version of vodka, we reinvented the way vodka is made,” said Galbiati. “We created our unique distillation process to make the smoothest, most neutral vodka available on the market today. We believe our ability to shine at these awards conveys the value of our brand and the superior taste that consumers have come to love. We’re excited to become America’s most-awarded vodka in such a short period of time.”
The Northern Maine Distilling Company was founded in 2006 by husband and wife team Scott Galbiati and Jessica Jewell. The pair is committed to their grass roots and down-home mission of delivering only the finest spirits through local manufacturing and small-batch production. Their Twenty 2 Vodka (80 proof) has won numerous awards, including Double Gold in 2012 at the San Francisco World Spirits Competitions and Gold for Quality at the 2011 MicroLiquor Awards. Twenty 2 Vodka is available in bars, restaurants and liquor stores in Maine, New Jersey, Washington, D.C., and Maryland. The Northern Maine Distilling Company also makes High Proof Spirit (HPS), designed for infusions. Twenty 2 Vodka is true micro distilled from grain for superior neutrality, meaning it has no taste, no color, no additives, and is naturally gluten-free. It’s the way vodka should be.
