Martin named Maine Potato Queen

    FORT FAIRFIELD — Ashley Martin of Van Buren is Maine’s Potato Blossom Queen as judges selected her as best among nine contestants during the July 21 pageant held in the Fort Fairfield Middle/High School gym.

    MISS MAINE POTATO Blossom Festival was crowned July 21 during the annual talent-beauty pageant held in the Gardner Gymnasium at Fort Fairfield Middle/High School. Winners included, from left, Aleesha Campbell, second runner-up representing Fort Fairfield; Miss Maine Potato Blossom Ashley Martin of Van Buren; and Hanna Patterson, first runner-up representing Presque Isle.

    The daughter of Michele and the late Terry Martin of Van Buren, she chose a dance performance for her talent presentation. Kelsey Buck of Mapleton, 2011 Maine Potato Blossom Queen, placed the crown on Martin’s head.

    First runner-up for the 2012 title is Presque Isle’s Hanna Patterson, the daughter of Ariana Patterson and Derrick Kinney. She also danced during the talent segment of the Blossom pageant.

    Olivia Garrison, daughter of Heidi and Gregg Garrison of Mars Hill, gave a vocal performance.

    Mindy Desmond, the daughter of Kelly and Mark Desmond of Easton, delivered a monologue as her performance.

    Fort Fairfield’s own Aleesha Campbell, daughter of Peggy and James Campbell, was chosen as second runner-up. She gave a vocal performance during the pageant.

    Miss Limestone, Vessa Villarreal, played the clarinet during the talent segment of the event. She is the daughter of Nina Bell.

    Miss Congeniality, a title decided by her pageant peers, was awarded to Miss Washburn Tia Dee. The daughter of Diann and Sam Dobson and Roger Dee, she danced during the talent portion of the show.

    Sarah McEachern, representing Mapleton, performed a dance routine as her talent offering. She is the daughter of Pamela and Bruce McEachern.

    Miss Caribou, Natasha Bishop, danced during the talent portion of the pageant. She is the daughter of Sharlet and Rick Bishop.

    During an intermission, former Miss Caribou and current Miss Maine, Molly Bouchard, gave a crowd-pleasing performance.
