Maine’s first Educational Technology Coordinator Program available at UC Houlton

HOULTON, Maine — Courses in University of Maine’s first-in-state Educational Technology Coordinator graduate certificate program will be available online this fall. People can participate in the new program through University College at Houlton, which offers high-speed internet access and a range of support services designed to help students succeed.
    Created to meet the professional development needs of educators who seek to incorporate new technologies into their classrooms, the 15-credit certificate program includes knowledge of methods and strategies for applying technology to student learning as well as research on implementation of technology. Students will learn the social, ethical, legal and human issues surrounding the use of technology in PK-12 schools, policies and procedures regarding the implementation of a technology infrastructure, and how to develop a vision for the comprehensive integration of technology.
The Technology Coordinator certificate program includes five courses (15 credits) that include:
• Foundations of Distance Education
• Information Security in the Educational Environment
• Advanced Networking, troubleshooting and Essentials
• Seminar in Educational Media
• Essentials for Educational Technology Leaders
