PRESQUE ISLE — Plans are under way for a unique event designed to give back to those who work to help with life’s unexpected events. A community celebration sponsored by area entrepreneur Natalie St. Pierre is set to take place on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. outdoors in the parking lot of the North Street TAMC Health Center.
The community event dubbed the “Sweets in Moderation Bake Sale and Bazaar” is being coordinated and sponsored by Natalie St. Pierre, owner of Social Envy Image and Event Consulting, to aid the Pine Tree Chapter of the American Red Cross.
The day will feature a variety of vendors and baked goods from throughout Aroostook County as well as family-friendly activities and musical entertainment. All organizations, small businesses, student groups, bakers, artists and community members are welcome and encouraged to take part in this one-of-a-kind fun-filled day.
St Pierre, a graduate student at Husson University, recently launched Social Envy Image and Event Consulting after noticing that many businesses see the important role that social media plays in their overall success but find it difficult to make the time to bolster a strong media and community presence while managing their daily operations.
St. Pierre’s mission is to provide top-quality, detail-oriented, professional event planning and image services that businesses and organizations need in order to maintain a positive and productive presence in their community.
“This event is what Social Envy is all about,” said St. Pierre. “I truly feel that success is built on a strong foundation of collaboration and philanthropy. This event is an opportunity to come together as a community and give back to a cause that sits at the core of what residents in northern Maine stand for: a love of community, family and a strong support of local businesses and organizations.”
Booth spaces at the Sweets in Moderation Bake Sale and Bazaar are free of charge. Vendors may select to donate either all or a portion of the day’s proceeds to support the efforts of the Red Cross. The special fundraiser will also coincide with a health fair hosted by The Aroostook Medical Center taking place inside the North Street Health Center from 8 a.m. to noon.
With the start of the new fiscal year on July 1, the Aroostook Branch of the American Red Cross — Pine Tree Chapter has found funds to be stretched thin as they have already responded to five families who have experienced devastating losses due to home fires from Madawaska to Blaine.
“When heartbreak turns to hope, when every moment matters and a hand reaches out, it’s wonderful to know that there are folks willing to help,” said Red Cross Branch Manager Joyce Knorr. “We are so deeply grateful for those folks who care about our community.”
Generous donations from individuals, businesses and organizations enable the Red Cross to prepare for and provide disaster victims with emergency shelter. Having a safe place to sleep, clothing, food, infant supplies, medical supplies and emotional comfort makes the next steps to recovery a little bit easier. Funds must be replenished immediately whenever these services are provided in order to maintain funding to help the next victims of disaster. The Red Cross relies on donations to help pay for disaster services for friends and neighbors in Aroostook County. Proceeds from the Sweets in Moderation Bake Sale and Bazaar will go to support the important work of the American Red Cross in Aroostook County communities.
