Tourney raises $20K for NMCC
FORT FAIRFIELD — Northern Maine Community College students, along with the entire campus, will be the beneficiaries of more than $20,000 in funds raised through the TD Bank Golf Tournament to benefit the NMCC Foundation, held Aug. 9 at the Aroostook Valley Country Club. This marks the tournament’s most successful year to date.

Just over 100 golfers teed off for the annual scramble. An additional dozen people joined the golfers for a dinner and silent auction that followed play at AVCC. This year’s auction featured a number of gift certificates from local businesses, works from local artists and some special items such as tickets to a Boston Bruins and to a Black Bears hockey game, both courtesy of TD Bank. The auction raised over $6,000.
“TD Bank is extremely pleased with our continuing partnership with the NMCC Foundation. Our annual golf tournament provides a wonderful opportunity to join together for a day of fun with our customers, employees, NMCC staff, sponsors and NMCC Foundation donors to raise much needed financial support for the foundation,” said Michael J. Kelley, regional vice president of TD Bank. “Our sponsors and supporters have remained very generous.”
This marked the seventh year TD Bank has partnered with the NMCC Foundation to host a golf tournament to raise scholarship funds for students attending the college. In addition to scholarship funds, monies raised during this year’s tournament were also earmarked to support NMCC’s new wellness and student centers project.
“We are most grateful to Mike Kelley, Ray Hews, and many others at TD Bank for their work on this annual event. We appreciate the participation of the players and all the sponsors and supporters of the tournament,” said Vicki Smith, NMCC Foundation chair. “During the past seven years, TD Bank’s partnership with the foundation has resulted in more than $100,000 raised in support of student scholarships. Added to that excitement this year is TD Bank’s additional support to help fund the college’s new wellness center project.”
