The Mars Hill Adult Education Program will begin classes on Monday, Oct. 15, with the following classes being offered: Woodworking on Mondays, Quilting on Mondays and Thursdays, Kick Aerobics on Mondays and Crafts and More on Tuesdays. Classes will run from 6 p.m. to 8 or 8:30 p.m. A registration fee of $15 will be charged for each class and must be paid prior to attending the first class. Lunch fee increases
School lunch prices at SAD 42 will increase as of Tuesday, Oct. 10, by 10 cents. Elementary lunches will now be $1.95. junior/senior high lunches will be $2.20. Adult lunches will be $3.85.
Marriage conference
The United Baptist Church of Mars Hill is hosting The Love and Respect Marriage Conference on Friday, Nov. 9, at 6 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 10, at 8:15 a.m. on Church Street. This biblically-based video marriage conference, taught by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs, changes lives, helps restore troubled marriages and helps good marriages become better. The simple and complicated message is “Women need Love. Men need Respect.”

One of the Survivor challenges enjoyed during the Harvest Recreation activities in Mars Hill involved crab walking, eating three crackers, saying your A-B-C’s and crab walking back to your team so the next person could take their turn. Rotary Club
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met Tuesday morning, Sept. 25, at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center.
Dave Collins, director of the Mars Hill Recreation Program, spoke to the group about the facility and the various activities that take place there. The daily walking program sees 25-40 walkers a day. Other activities that take place on a regular basis include karate, basketball and other sports activities.
The building also houses a day care facility in a portion of the lower level as well as the local food cupboard off the lobby. The town’s pageants also take place there in the spring.
The facility runs on funds provided by the towns of Mars Hill and Blaine, but officials hope to find some grants that will allow them to make necessary improvements to the building and parking lot. The pool is also in need of work.

The department is also looking into refurbishing the fitness room, with ideas coming from County Physical Therapy personnel.
Aroostook Health Center
Upcoming events for the week of Oct. 3-9 include: Wednesday will have the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Residents Council at 10 a.m. and “Picker’s” Special Contest at 1:30 p.m. Thursday has the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m., BYF Potluck Dinner at 11 a.m. and the Mars Hill United Baptist Church at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, will feature Moving To Music at 9:30 a.m. and Harvest Social Baked Potato Bar at 1:30 p.m. Saturday will be a free day. Sunday will feature Sunday Service with Jonathan at 1:30 p.m. Monday is Columbus Day and will feature Coffee Chat at 9:30 a.m., Karaoke with Larry at 1:30 p.m. and Gospel Group at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, will have the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m. and Card Games at 1:30 p.m. All of these activities are subject to change. Community Cupboard
The food pantry serves the communities of Westfield, Mars Hill, Blaine, Robinson, E-Plantation and Bridgewater.
The cupboard is open the second Tuesday of each month from 1-3 p.m. and the fourth Tuesday of each month from 6-8 p.m. at the Mars Hill and Blaine Community. If you have questions, please call Cathy Cropley at 429-8043.
