ISLAND FALLS — This year there’s a “new face” to Halloween! For the past several years, the teens at Brave Hearts have hosted the House of Horrors; a high fright event that raised money for the 2012 Southern Aroostook senior class, ATV and First Aid training programs, and teen community events.
This year, Southern Aroostook High School students have decided to take their good deeds to the streets on Halloween to collect non-perishable food items and canned goods and donate them to the Agape Food Pantry.
“When this idea was presented, I was curious to see if the teens would want to do this event; going door to door and asking for canned goods requires a lot of courage. I was surprised and delighted to find them eager to help those who do not have enough to eat in our community. In the future, I will no longer underestimate the desire of a young person to help others. We are blessed to know some really compassionate and loving teens,” said Bob King, President of Brave Hearts.
For those high school students participating in the food drive, there will be a “Don’t Be Yourself” celebration with plenty of great food, costume judging, prizes and crazy fun and games. High school students from other schools are encouraged to join the festivities from 6:00 – 9:30 p.m. at Brave Hearts at 66 Sherman Street in Island Falls.
